Our client is a medium-sized developer and manufacturer of mechanical and electromechanical components made of plastic or plastic compounds. Their products are used in a variety of industries including the automotive industry or medical applications. The company is present in 4 countries, with several hundred employees.

Because of their continued growth at their US location, we are looking for a Head of Automation and Maintenance (gn).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, implementation, and supervision of the plant maintenance strategy
  • Full leadership and development of the employees in automation and mechatronics engineers and maintenance staff
  • Increase equipment availability through systematic maintenance activities
  • Be part of the local technical expert team; design manufacturing concepts and production layouts and specifications for machines, plants, and equipment for new projects
  • Project planning, coordination and commissioning of manufacturing lines
  • Development, evaluation, and introduction of new technologies within the scope of process development projects
  • Coordination and design of equipment for testing technology, assembly technique, and automation technology
  • Spare parts management and management of the maintenance budget taking into consideration the failure rate of the various components
  • Coordination of new projects and plants between the US location and the headquarters in Germany
  • Evaluation of new plants from the economic and technical POV


  • Degree in electrical engineering or mechatronics, or master technician in mechanical engineering / manufacturing engineering / automation engineering
  • Several years of experience in maintenance in production of composite plastic parts, preferably in the automotive industry
  • Deep knowledge of mechanics, control technology, hydraulics, robotics, and welding technology
  • Very good knowledge of PLC programming, servo systems, plant automation, HMI visualization, and pneumatics
  • Robot programming in EPSON, FANUC/NACHI of advantage
  • Knowledge of the CE guidelines, safety SPS and E-Plan
  • Some leadership experience
  • Hands-on mentality, assertive, analytical and independent approach, cost- , quality-, and safety-conscious
  • Very good English and German skills
